IAS Dr Neha Jain: UPSC Preparation Strategy

Dr Neha joined a coaching class where she aimed to cover current affairs on a daily basis.

He didn’t quit his job. As we discussed earlier, How students have stopped quitting Dr Neha was also following the same path to prepare for the Civil Services Examination.

Neha believed that if she devotes 4-5 hours daily to her CSE preparation she can be successful. No one needs to attend class in person during tech time. There are many institutes which are running virtual classes which was a good option for Dr Neha.

Neha started with the basics. She used to read newspaper editorials every day to hone her writing skills and never let current affairs derail her schedule. He gave mock tests and took up the competition in a healthy manner. A bad rank meant that he had to work harder while a good rank gave him the necessary motivation. Neha studied all the topics of Static GK regularly and also left time for revision. “You don’t need multiple sources, only one book per topic is fine,” she says.

Revision of traditional books is necessary.

For Mains, she suggests practicing answer writing. Also candidates can post their answers on many websites today. It is necessary to write 4-5 answers daily. He said that it is also necessary to include the dots in answer writing.

She says, “It’s okay to have knowledge, but what’s the point if you can’t present it well on paper?”

Neha had an optional law. So he found GS II paper easier than others. For ethics, she suggests reading limited material and relying more on intelligence.

He asked the candidates to prepare notes mostly related to case studies.
